Imagine cramming your foot into a tall, pointy shoe only to hobble around like a lanky 7-foot-tall circus clown with polio. For years, men have pondered the question: Why? Why do women willingly suffer from bunions and sprain their ankles all for the momentary pleasure of walking around in tight shoes.
A recent study has revealed why women balance their ankles with a narrow spike.
Women have agreed that it is for several reasons. The first is simply to be taller. If a woman is short and fat, she can appear to be an average height and average weight. A potential mate will not know she is, in her words, unbecomingly short, until further into the relationship. It is only in the presence of close family and her girl squad that she takes off her stilts and reveals her true height.
Women also wear heels in an attempt to sound like a galloping pony. Pittsburgh woman Hannah Yang admitted, “Well, I suppose our heels are rather pretty and I am on the short side, but the main reason for me personally is I enjoy feeling like a charming little filly trotting through a meadow among the buttercups as people gently stroke my hair.”
