MOESBURG, Ok.–

If you were to walk the corridors of any high school, you would notice something unusual about some of the students’ hands. In case you haven’t picked up on it and need it pointed out, we are talking about fingernails. So many of the girls have excessively long fingernails, and it is not because they have found careers as profession back-scratchers. It is, apparently, all for the sake of being in style. Especially in style this month is a new procedure where the claws of an animal are embedded in the nail bed, giving the recipient a longer and more durable nail. The most popular procedures include armadillo claws, tiger claws, beaver claws, and eagle claws.

The style is not exempt from backlash, as there are numerous reports of injuries caused by the nails, particularly the tiger claws and the eagle claws. Those who live in close proximity to recipients of the procedure now say they live in fear that they may accidentally brush against their loved one’s hand and be mortally scratched. The girls, however, say it gives them a newfound sense of safety.

“With these sweet new bear claws, I’m guaranteed to always get the last bear claw in the box,” says 12-year-old Cameron Howlett.

Take it from local teen Amber Davidson: “I know that whenever I feel unsafe, like when my little brother tries to come into my room asking if he can play on my iPad, I have a weapon at my disposal. Female empowerment!”

Whatever the backlash against these stunning styles may be, Moesburg Times has to give these girls an A+ for confidence.
