The Piers, a local family, have opened up about how hurt they felt after their grandma admitted that the secret ingredient in her scrumptious cobblers is not love, but rather, cream cheese. The famous peach, blackberry, and pecan cobblers, made by Grandma Rose, were looked forward to at every family gathering. Grandma Rose had always told the family that the secret to her mouth-watering masterpieces was “a little bit of love sprinkled on top”, but recently, she accidentally let it slip that her true secret was actually an extra dollop or two of cream cheese in the batter. Grandma Rose’s family’s horror at this revelation was beyond her imagination. We talked with a few of Rose’s relatives about the ordeal to hear what they had to say.
“It just makes me really sad,” said 8 year old Amy Piers. “I always believed that she put love in the food she made for us, and it made me really upset when I found out she didn’t.”
Amy’s father, Tim Piers, spoke with us as well. “I felt absolutely heartbroken,” he said. “Even as a child, taking a bite of her cobbler made me feel so loved.”
Many other family members have expressed similar feelings. We did attempt to reach out to Grandma Rose to hear her side of the story, but she has declined to comment.
